🎞️ 5 Ways to Become Blockbuster in the Age of Netflix
Break The Old Systems, Build With AI
Hello, kickers!
🚨 The Kick is Here: Are You Netflix or Blockbuster?
Most school owners believe their biggest threat is the school down the street. It isn’t. The real threat is the owner who learns to use AI faster, smarter, and more creatively than you do. The martial arts industry is standing in the same place Blockbuster stood right before the world changed. And just like Blockbuster, most schools are too comfortable to see what is coming.
This week’s article breaks down five ways AI is already transforming the way martial arts businesses operate, from team training to financial strategy to student engagement. These are not theories. These are the exact tools and systems we are using inside our own schools to scale cleaner, move faster, and gain leverage that manual work will never match.
If you want to stay relevant, competitive, and profitable in the next decade, this is the issue you cannot skim. 👊🔥

🎞️ 5 Ways to Become Blockbuster in the Age of Netflix
AI is not coming for martial arts schools. It is coming for the way martial arts schools operate.
Let me ask you something.
Do you remember the last time you walked into a Blockbuster?
Neither does anyone else. Not because people stopped wanting movies, but because Blockbuster looked at Netflix and said, “That is a fad,” while Netflix looked at Blockbuster and said, “That is an opportunity.”
Right now the same thing is happening in the martial arts industry.
Most school owners do not even realize they are Blockbuster.
AI is not the future. It is the present. And the schools that figure this out in the next 12 months will build an advantage that everyone else will spend years trying to catch up to. The ones who ignore it will work harder than ever and fall further behind.
I am not writing this to scare you. I am writing this because I have watched it transform our own schools, and the results are too good to keep quiet.
Here are five ways we have used AI to change how we operate, and what it could mean for you.
1. We Built an Internal Knowledge Base That Replaced 100 Team Meetings
Before this, every question landed on my plate. Staff would guess, wait, or handle something incorrectly and I would find out days later.
Now we have what we call Ask Adam: a knowledge base trained on our SOPs, policies, processes, and expectations.
Team member has a question?
They ask the system.
It pulls up the correct SOP.
Shows step-by-step instructions.
Links to resources they need.
The questions that used to interrupt my day now get answered instantly.
That is not laziness. That is leverage.
2. Our Brand Vault Writes Our Content, Emails, and Manuals in Seconds
Our Brand Vault knows everything about our business: our voice, our values, our messaging, our culture. It was trained on how we actually communicate.
Before this:
Onboarding emails took hours
Staff handbooks took days
Social content took far too long
Now:
Social posts
Email sequences
Handbook updates
Policy documentation
It all happens in seconds, and it all sounds like us.
If your messaging feels scattered or your team sounds different every time they speak, this is your fix.
3. We Drop Our P and L Into AI and It Tells Us Exactly Where to Focus
Most school owners track enrollments and billing. That is it.
For years, I was the owner doing $36K per month with zero financial discipline. Money came in, money went out, and I had no idea where the leverage was.
Now we upload our financials and KPIs into an AI analysis tool, and it highlights:
Where energy is leaking
Where intervention is needed
Where revenue can grow fastest
What each variable change will produce long term
Increase closing percentage by 5 percent?
Improve trial conversion by 5 percent?
The tool shows the actual impact 12 months out.
This is how you shift from reactive operator to strategic CEO.
4. Our CEO Command Center Tells Us How to Lead Every Person on the Team
This one might be my favorite.
We built a system that knows our entire team:
Personality traits
Strengths and weaknesses
How they respond to pressure
The best coaching approach for each person
When I need to have a tough conversation or when my manager needs to guide someone who is underperforming, we ask the command center how to approach it so it actually lands.
It also uses our business metrics to recommend decisions.
Most owners struggle to lead because they treat everyone the same. People are not the same, and leaders who understand that become leaders their teams would run through walls for.
5. AI Built Our Website. We Stopped Paying Three Hundred Dollars a Month.
Using our Brand Vault and a tool called Lovable, AI built our entire website:
It looks good
It sounds like us
We can update it instantly
And we stopped paying monthly fees for someone else to maintain a site we never fully controlled
Three hundred dollars per month is thirty-six hundred dollars per year saved immediately. And many owners are paying far more.
When you own your software and your site, you own your speed.
Here Is the Bottom Line
Blockbuster did not fail because the world changed.
Blockbuster failed because they refused to change with it.
The schools that win over the next five years will not necessarily be the ones with the best instructors or the biggest floor space. They will be the ones that learn to operate smarter, systemize deeply, personalize student experience, and scale with precision.
AI is not replacing great martial arts schools.
AI is exposing the ones that were already running on duct tape and hope.
The question is simple.
Which one are you going to be?

🔥 Alex Hormozi – The Advantage of Being AI-First
There’s never been a better time to start an AI-first business. Most established companies are busy running operations while newcomers are learning and applying AI from the ground up. The real edge isn’t just talking about AI—it’s building businesses that are designed around it from day one.

🔥 Jim Rohn - You Become the Average of Your Circle
Jim Rohn believed the people around you shape your habits, income, and ambitions. The “average of five” idea is a reminder to be intentional about who influences you. It’s not about cutting people out, but choosing your circle wisely.

🔥 Mel Robbins - The Real Risk Is Staying the Same
If fear, doubt, or uncertainty is stopping you, consider the alternative: staying exactly where you are. The same routine, the same excuses, the same voice telling you not to try. Sometimes the real risk isn’t taking the leap. It’s spending another day wishing you had.

🔥 Rob Dial - Believe What People Show You
Stop ignoring who people have already shown you they are. Some people do not change because they do not want to. Every time you go back, you teach them it is okay to hurt you again. Protect your peace and stop bleeding for people who keep handing you the knife.

📖 What We’re Reading: The 4 Disciplines of Execution by Chris McChesney, Sean Covey, and Jim Huling
If this week’s issue is about stepping out of overwhelm and building systems that actually move you forward, The 4 Disciplines of Execution is the perfect companion. This book tackles the biggest problem leaders face: everyone is busy, but almost no one is executing the things that really matter.
The authors outline a simple but powerful framework for turning big goals into measurable progress, creating team accountability, and eliminating the distraction that keeps organizations stuck in reactive mode.
Key Takeaways for School Owners
✅ You must focus on the Wildly Important Goal.
Most owners try to improve everything at once. This book shows you how to narrow your aim and move the needle fast.
✅ Lead measures matter more than lag measures.
Instead of obsessing over outcomes you cannot control, 4DX teaches you to track the actions that produce them.
✅ A weekly cadence of accountability transforms a team.
When everyone knows the target, the scoreboard, and their commitments, execution becomes predictable instead of chaotic.
If you want to stop spinning your wheels and start building a school that wins consistently, this book is a game changer.

🔥 Smitesh Parmar – Santa Clara Front Desk Team is Crushing It
The Santa Clara team delivered a powerful improvement this week. Their campaign has driven the Cost Per Lead down to just $10, a major drop from the $27 CPL they were seeing last week. That kind of jump shows exactly what happens when the right messaging and targeting lock into place.
Strong results, sharp momentum, and a clear signal that the system is working.

🔥 That’s a Wrap for This Week!
AI is not the enemy. Comfort is. The schools that thrive over the next five years will be the ones that stop clinging to outdated systems and start building the kind of infrastructure that scales with speed and precision. This is not about gadgets or shortcuts. It is about understanding how leverage works and using technology to build a business that grows without draining your time, energy, and sanity. Blockbuster didn’t lose because movies went away. They lost because they didn’t evolve.
The same choice is in front of you now. Adapt and lead, or stay the same and fall behind. The next move is yours. 👊🔥 #TheKick
